Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: In the Colombian context, it is still quite easy to find non-resistance to traditional gender stereotypes. Even though students are already finding their ways to challenge these traditional stereotypes, it is still evident these are still deeply rooted into their conceptions and representations of the world. The research question that guided this study was: what are students’ responses to gender stereotypes? Findings suggest that even though there are some students who still agree with traditional gender stereotypes, there are some others who have already started not only challenging them but also to stop considering them in their imaginaries. Finally, this study has implications for teaching since it shows the urgent need to implement teaching approaches that help students challenge these stereotypes definitely.
