RESUMEN: En este estudio se analizan los significados y las prácticas que configuran las masculinidades en los hombres del municipio de Alejandría, Antioquia, por medio de entrevistas a profundidad que se realizan a 14 hombres del municipio. Pasa por una indagación acerca de los significados que los participantes de la investigación le atribuyen a la noción de masculinidad; las prácticas que configuran el hecho de ser hombre en el municipio; se identifica y problematiza la influencia que tienen la familia, la iglesia católica, y los institutos castrenses en la construcción de las subjetividades masculinas del municipio. La información analizada sugiere que en el municipio existe aún un legado patriarcal predominante que afianza un estereotipo de masculinidad hegemónica y se legitima a través de la familia, la iglesia católica y los institutos castrenses. En la investigación surgen también vivencias, significados y prácticas alternativas a esa masculinidad hegemónica, que muestran posibles rutas de intervención. |

The interviews inquire about the significances that participants assign to the notion of masculinity and the practices that configure the fact of being a man in the municipality; they identify and problematize the influence that family, Catholic church, and military institutions might have on the creation of male subjectivities within the municipality.
