RESUMEN: A partir de las ideas de Marshall McLuhan, es posible analizar la actividad cultural teniendo como punto de partida la utilización de unos determinados instrumentos o medios para transformar el ambiente y aprovecharnos de él. El texto analiza las implicaciones de esta metodología -"un materialismo cultural, mediático y tecnológico"-, no a partir de relaciones causales entre los medios materiales y los ideales simbólicos sino con base en el concepto de homología. A partir de esta hipótesis de trabajo se discute la resonancia sobre la creación artística de medios como los sistemas de carreteras en el Imperio Romano, la imprenta a partir del siglo XV y los medios eléctricos y electrónicos en el mundo actual. |

The text discusses the implications of this methodology- "a cultural, technological and media materialism"-, not from the starting point of causal relations among material media and symbolize ideals but based on the concept of homology.
