description RESUMEN: Un concepto que atrae la atención respecto a los cambios que América Latina ha tenido durante la última década es el de Buen Vivir. Su origen ancestral, vinculado a los nuevos paradigmas que surgieron en algunas naciones latinoamericanas, ha cumplido un papel protagónico en sus constituciones políticas y su propuesta como alternativa al desarrollo, ha despertado el interés por aproximarse a él. El escrito pretende acercarse a los aspectos más importantes que envuelven al Buen Vivir. Se abordará la manera cómo surgió el concepto; las influencias que ha tomado de otros campos teóricos como el socialismo indoamericano, la antropología de la modernidad, entre otros; las maneras como distintos autores y sectores lo definen; las corrientes interpretativas que se desprenden de esta noción, entendida bajo dos acepciones: como una alternativa al desarrollo o como una propuesta filosófica y moral; el papel que ha jugado en los últimos procesos constituyentes de Ecuador y Bolivia; las críticas que algunos autores han expuesto sobre la aplicación del Buen Vivir y las visiones que tienen algunos pueblos indígenas no andinos sobre el tema. Se ejemplificará la aplicación de la segunda acepción con base en la comunidad de Marmato, Caldas, advirtiendo que el Buen Vivir es un concepto inacabado que aunque tiene unos elementos distintivos, se construye permanentemente.

Its ancestral origin, related to the new paradigms that emerged in some of Latin American nations, has played a protagonic role in the Constitutions of these countries and the proposal of the concept of “Good Living” has awoken the interest on approaching to it. This exposition claims to approach to the most important topics that surrounds the concept of the “Good Living”. I’m going to expose the way of how this concept arose; also the influences it has taken from other theoretical camps such as Latin American socialism, anthropology of modernity, among others, the ways of how other authors and sectors define the concept of “Good Living”, also the interpretative streams that emerge from this notion, understood over two meanings: one of them as an alternative to development and the other as a moral-philosophical proposal; the role that has played in the last constitutional process in Ecuador and Bolivia; the critics that some authors have exposed about the implementation of the "Good Living" concept and the visions that some of non-Andean indigenous peoples have about this topic.
