Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: This article reports on a qualitative study about composition and changes in kinship relations in a town called Jardin (Antioquia, Colombia). The study used techniques such as participant observation, individual and group interviews in order to collect data, and considered contributions of anthropology of kinship in its theoretical lenses. Results are presented in three categories: characterization of families from Jardin, foreign population entrance, and tourism as a possible change accelerator. This study could establish that new economic dynamics of the town, as well as tourist and retired population entrance to the municipality have had a significant impact on its inhabitant’s lives and family interactions.
