RESUMEN: Introducción: La auditoría surge como respuesta a una necesidad de la población, la cual busca garantías sobre un interés particular y se acoge a controles o monitoreo acerca de sus conductas y a través de la cual cumplen con unas responsabilidades. Es así como surge la auditoría en salud, como un organismo para velar porque los pacientes reciban atención con calidad y va en busca de oportunidades de mejora y aplicación de respectivos correctivos en caso de ser necesario. Métodos: Se realiza el abordaje de auditoría en salud, desde sus antecedentes históricos y el desarrollo de esta a través de diferentes autores y organismos. Resultados y conclusiones: El desarrollo de la auditoría en salud en Colombia, se regula mediante entes gubernamentales y se hace cumplir a través de normatividad tanto nacional como internacional y es así, como se hace importante para todo el sistema de salud la realización de evaluaciones para tener un control y a raíz de ellos contar con certificaciones o conceptos favorables de su quehacer, que puede ser medido por ejemplo la calidad del servicio que se ofrece, satisfacción del cliente y la realización de intervenciones que se hace si se considera pertinente. Se resalta la importancia de la realización de la auditoría periódica, la cual se debe llevar a cabo por un personal formado y capacitado en esta área. La auditoría se mide a través de indicadores y permite a las instituciones de salud lo que se debe mejorar y qué ítems se deben sostener. |

La auditoría se mide a través de indicadores y permite a las instituciones de salud lo que se debe mejorar y qué ítems se deben sostener.ABSTRACT: Introduction: The audit arises as a response to a need of the population, which seeks guarantees on a particular interest and welcomes controls or monitoring about their behaviors and through which they comply with some responsibilities. This is how the health audit arises, as a body to ensure that patients receive quality care and is looking for opportunities for improvement and application of corrective measures if necessary. Methods: Health auditing is approached from its historical background and its development through different authors and organizations. Results and conclusions: The development of health auditing in Colombia is regulated by governmental entities and is enforced through national and international regulations, and it is thus important for the entire health system to carry out evaluations in order to have a control and as a result of them to have certifications or favorable concepts of their work, which can be measured for example the quality of the service offered, customer satisfaction and the performance of interventions that are made if deemed appropriate. The importance of conducting periodic audits is emphasized, which must be carried out by personnel trained and qualified in this area.
