RESUMEN: Este artículo es producto de una investigación que tuvo como objetivo interpretar los sentidos que le otorgan los hombres a las prácticas corporales de autoconoci-miento para participar, con la pareja, en los procesos de preconcepción, gestación, parto y crianza; como mo-mentos de gran significado en torno al nacimiento. La investigación contempló dos fases: la primera, desde el enfoque de la fenomenología hermenéutica y el méto-do de investigación narrativa; y la segundo fase, deriva-da del anterior, se abordó desde la investigación-acción educativa. Entre los resultados se resalta la importancia de educar para concebir un ser humano, trascender el papel de proveedor económico al acompañamien-to afectivo durante la gestación, la sensibilización del hombre para nacer como padre y el asumir de forma corresponsable la crianza. Se concluye que en estos procesos es necesaria la corresponsabilidad del hom-bre en condición de pareja con una participación más activa desde las diferentes dimensiones del ser. |

Se concluye que en estos procesos es necesaria la corresponsabilidad del hom-bre en condición de pareja con una participación más activa desde las diferentes dimensiones del ser.ABSTRACT: This article is the product of a research that aimed to interpret the meanings that men give to self-knowle-dge body practices when participating alongside their partners in the processes of preconception, pregnan-cy, birth, and rearing as very significant moments su-rrounding birth. To do so, this research focused on two phases: first, from the approach of hermeneutic phenomenology and the narrative research method; second, derived from the previous one, this moment was approached from the educational research. Among the research results, the following stand out: the importance of educating for conceiving a human being; transcending from the role of economical su-pporter to emotional supporter during pregnancy; and sensitizing men to become fathers and participate in the shared responsibility during rearing.
