Objetivo: investigar si existe relación proporcional directa entre la profundidad de la Curva de Spee y la angulación de la pared anterior de la cavidad glenoidea utilizando la tomografía axial computarizada cone beam. Método: se realizó un estudio de corte transversal estuvo compuesto por 110 tomográficas tridimensionales de pacientes que poseían su fórmula dentaria completa en la zona inferior de al menos un lado. Se midió la angulación de la pared anterior de la cavidad glenoidea y también la profundidad de la curva de Spee utilizando un programa computacional. Resultados: en la medición global por lado, se encontró que en el lado derecho había correlación proporcional estadísticamente significativa entre las variables estudiadas, mientras que en el lado izquierdo no fue estadísticamente significativa. Al realizar el análisis por sexo, se encontró correlación estadísticamente significativa en los hombres en el lado izquierdo, y en las mujeres en el lado derecho. Con respecto a la edad, se observó correlación estadísticamente significativa en el rango de 50 años y más, pero ésta fue solamente en el lado derecho. Conclusiones: no existe una relación proporcional directa entre la profundidad de la curva de Spee y la angulación de la pared anterior de la cavidad glenoidea debido a la gran variabilidad existente en un mismo paciente, igualmente ni el sexo ni la edad tienen un efecto significativo sobre dichas variables. |

Objective: to investigate if there is a direct proportional relation between the depth of the curve of Spee and the angle of the anterior wall of glenoid cavity by means of the cone beam computerized axial tomography. Method: a hundred and ten 3D scans of patients were studied with a complete dental formula in the lower area, at least on one side. The angle of the anterior wall of the glenoid cavity and the depth of the curve of Spee were measured by using a computational program. Results: the global measuring of the sides showed that in the right side there was a statistically significant proportional correlation among the studied variables. On the other hand, on the left side the correlation was not statistically significant. When making the analysis regarding sex, a statistically significant correlation was found in the left side in men; and in the right side in women. Regarding age, a statistically significant correlation in an age range of 50 years and more was found.
