RESUMEN: Introducción: Debido a la pandemia causada por el coronavirus tipo 2 del síndrome respiratorio agudo grave (SARS-CoV-2), las comunidades científicas de todo el mundo se han visto enfrentadas a identificar e implementar medidas para adaptarse, brindándole atención segura a los pacientes infectados y dando continuidad a la atención médica del resto de la población. Objetivo: Describir la percepción de los cirujanos plásticos en Colombia sobre el impacto que podría tener la pandemia en el ejercicio de su profesión. Métodos: Estudio transversal realizado a través de una encuesta autoaplicada entre el 29 de mayo y el 12 de junio de 2020. Resultados: Se obtuvo respuesta de 106 cirujanos plásticos en 18 ciudades de Colombia, el 76,4% con más de 10 años de experiencia laboral. Un 26,4% reportó alguna patología de riesgo para gravedad por COVID-19 (enfermedad por coronavirus del 2019). El 71,7% realizaría tanto cirugías plásticas estéticas como reconstructivas durante la pandemia, con previo aval de los entes de salud territorial. Las principales medidas a implementar son la atención de consultas sin acompañante, la disminución de tiempos quirúrgicos y los cambios estructurales en el consultorio. El 86,7% ordenará alguna prueba de laboratorio como tamizaje prequirúrgico. La mayoría de los cirujanos consideran una disminución del 46% de su práctica quirúrgica. Conclusión: El panorama actual suscita cambios en la práctica médica encaminada a la realización de una medicina segura; los cirujanos plásticos en Colombia tienen una mirada optimista, con confianza y certeza para adaptarse al reto de una nueva normalidad. |

Objective: To describe the perceptions of plastic surgeons in Colombia about the impact of the pandemic in every day’s professional work life. Methods: Cross-sectional study through a survey applied from May 29th to June 12th, 2020. Results: 106 plastic surgeons in 18 cities in Colombia answered the survey. 76.4% of surgeons reported having more than 10 years of practice. 26.4 % stated to have risk comorbidities for severe COVID19 (coronavirus disease from 2019). 71.7% declared they would retake immediately aesthetic as well as reconstructive plastic surgeries after government authorization to reopen surgical services. Main measures to be implemented are medical consultation without a companion, reduction of surgical times and structural changes in the outpatient facility. 86.7% of surgeons will request COVID laboratory test in addition to preoperative routine screening. Most surgeons contemplate a decrease of 46% on their surgical practice. Conclusion: Current panorama elicits a lot of changes in surgical practice. There will be many adjustments to perform safer procedures.
