RESUMEN: El amancebamiento o la unión marital de hecho fue considerado una contravención de carácter negativo y despectivo para la sociedad en general, reforzado por los prejuicios de quienes, desde las instituciones civiles y eclesiásticas -a propósito de su cercanía-, estipularon que el amancebamiento era delito y, al mismo tiempo, pecado. Esta investigación intenta describir y explicar el problema del amancebamiento en un periodo de cambios, como fue las décadas de 1850 y 1860, donde el Código Penal de 1837, y la aparición de la ley sobre el matrimonio civil y el divorcio de 1853-1856, junto al matrimonio religioso, estuvieron en contra de esta otra forma de integrar parejas y futuras familias. Este delito era incluso más problemático para la figura femenina, en una sociedad con altos grados de religiosidad y moralidad, como se hacía caracterizar la Antioquia de este periodo. |

This research attempts to describe and explain the problem of cohabitation in a period of change, such as the 1850s and 1860s, when the Penal Code of 1837, and the appearance of the law about civil marriage and divorce of 1853-1856, together with religious marriage, were against this other way of integrating couples and future families.
