Este estudio corresponde al tipo no experimental con diseño transversal, en el cual se seleccionó una muestra de 67 participantes del oriente antioqueño, a quienes se les aplicó un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos y dos instrumentos de medición: la Escala de Adherencia al Tratamiento de la Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 2 - Versión III (EATDM-III) y la Escala de Desesperanza de Beck (BHS). Para llevar a cabo el análisis se realizaron dos modelos de regresión lineal. En el primero, se utilizó el Total BHS como variable destino, mientras que, en el segundo, el Total EATDM-III fue la variable dependiente. El estudio encontró una relación inversa entre la desesperanza y la adherencia al tratamiento en pacientes con DM2. A mayor adherencia, menor desesperanza y viceversa. Asimismo, factores como el nivel educativo influyen en el nivel de desesperanza y la EAPB se relaciona significativamente con la adherencia al tratamiento, lo que aporta evidencia de la necesidad e importancia de incorporar un enfoque integral en el tratamiento de la DM2. |

This research belongs to the non-experimental type with a cross-sectional design, in which a sample of 67 participants from eastern Antioquia was selected, to whom a sociodemographic data questionnaire and two measuring instruments were applied: the Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Treatment Adherence Scale - Version III (EATDM-III) and the Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS). To carry out the analysis two linear regression models were conducted. In the first model, the Total BHS was used as a destination variable, while in the second one, the Total EATDM-III was the dependent variable. The research found an inverse relationship between hopelessness and adherence to treatment in patients with DM2: the greater the adherence, the less hopelessness, and vice versa.
