description ABSTRACT: This paper deals with the theme of solidarity within the framework of contemporary liberal societies, based on the perspective outlined on this point by prominent authors of liberal political thought such as Giddens, Beck, Lash and Max-Neef. The article studies the concrete application of postulates derived or related to these author's theories during the last quarter century by the public administration of the United States and some European nations since; throughout the period in question, the political leaders of these countries expressed a determined interest in applying those thesis, in search of deep and beneficial economic and social transformations.
