Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: The objective of this investigation consisted in analyzing those significant experiences that the person considers allowed him to feel better with regard to the experience of the depression. The sample was formed by eight people who participated voluntarily relating their experience. It was found that they needed to contextualize their experience to speak about what helped them, so the categories arose based on those statements: explanation about the origin of the depression, diagnosis process, how their depression was lived, elements of motivation, what helped them to feel better, and improvement process. The findings indicated that the aid search was motivated by the recognition of the physical indisposition that led them to question about themselves. Therefore what had the meaning of helper was related with assuming or not their subjective participation in the depression. The search for answers to the depression had great influence in the ways they followed in order to leave behind the depression and in the reflection about themselves that arose after the depression was over. This search also and influenced in what the improvement meant for them: to recover or to become.
