RESUMEN: Este artículo expone el interés por la realización de una investigación en el área de lingüística antropológica, así como por el reconocimiento y la valoración de la lengua como patrimonio cultural inmaterial. Este trabajo se basa en una investigación llevada a cabo con los indígenas quechuas de la ciudad de Medellín. Presenta un análisis en la relación de la antropología y la lingüística y desarrolla una panorámica general sobre las pautas culturales de los quechuas en esta ciudad. Como conclusión, se enmarca el aspecto sociolingüístico de esta comunidad, la cual presenta grandes necesidades a nivel de políticas públicas claras para su educación y la enseñanza de la lengua materna. This research was carried out with the Quechua Indigenous group in the city of Medellin. It discusses the relationship between anthropology and linguistics and develops a general overview of the cultural norms of the Que-chua people in this city.
