Materiales y métodos: A los pacientes incluidos en el estudio, previo Consentimiento informado, se les tomaron muestras de cavidad oral, las cuales fueron sembradas en Agar Sabouraud Dextrosa y Chromogenic Candida Agar. La identificación de especie se realizó utilizando el método API 20 C AUX y crecimiento en Agar Sabouraud Dextrosa a 45º C, se determinó la sensibilidad Fluconazol, Voriconazol e Itraconazol por el método comercial ATB fungus. Resultados: De las 200 muestras obtenidas a partir de cavidad oral de los pacientes diabéticos, 96 (48%) fueron positivas para Candida. Las especies aisladas fueron C. albicans 95.4%, C. Guillermondii 2.3%y C. parapsilosis 2.3%. El porcentaje de sensibilidad a los antimicóticos, fue para Fluconazol 97%, Voriconazol e Itraconazol 93%. onclusiones: Candida albicans es la especie mas comunmente aislada en pacientes diabeticos; y teniendo en cuenta que estos pacientes son susceptibles de sufrir infecciones por diferentes especies de Candida, es importante identificar la especie y determinar el perfil de sensibilidad de las levaduras aisladas a en este grupo de individuos. |

Material and Methods: Oral cavity samples were collected from patients included in this study after accepting the informed consent. The samples were cultured in Sabouraud Dextrose Agar and in Chromogenic Candida Agar. Api 20 C AUX and growth at 45º C in Sabouraud Dextrose Agar were used to identify Candidaspecies and ATB fungus test was used to evaluate the sensitivity to Fluconazole, Voriconazole and Itraconazole. Results: 200 samples were obtained from the oral cavity of diabetic patients. 96 Candida isolates were obtained: C. albicans (95.4%), C. guillermondii (2.3%)and C. parapsilosis (2.3%). Antimycotic assays revealed the following sensitivity: 97% against Fluconazol 97% and 93% against Voriconazol andItraconazol.Conclusions: C.albicanswas the most isolated species in diabetic patients.
