Summary: | The study of social representations from the health area is linked to the living conditions of human beings, with social factors being relevant as cultural determinants for the construction of social representations of health and disease. Objective: To explore the social representations about health and disease of a group of peasants from the department of Córdoba, in order to base the design of appropriate care plans and promote interculturality in health. Materials and methods: A descriptive study with a qualitative and micro ethnographic approach, carried out in a village in the department of Córdoba. The information was collected through an interview of 13 questions in which 20 people chosen under the stipulated inclusion and exclusion criteria participated. Results: The participants expressed a set of knowledge, ideals, concepts and practices related to the health-disease process, which nourish the construction of the social representations of health and disease in this community. Conclusions: The social representations of health and disease are constructed through everyday situations, where factors associated with health stand out, such as eating well, having energy to work and not feeling pain in the body; and factors associated with the disease such as not having the courage to work and feeling pain. |
