La materialidad de la experiencia para señalar las nuevas políticas culturales. A partir de este lente teórico, se enfoca al migrante del principio del siglo XXI en varios textos literarios –un poemario de Balam Rodrigo, una novela de Valeria Luiselli, y la ópera de Anna Deeny Morales, recientemente estrenada en el Kennedy Center de Washington DC. These are ways to stay in the immediacy of the present, to elude history and logic. These are works with surface responses of the body in which the senses are in full show. This essay is a reflection on the ways in which theories of sensation, perception, and affectivity help us elucidate the situation of migrants in various cultural texts. Particular focus then falls on the ways in which migrant subjects are captured in the poetry of Balam Rodrigo, a novel by Valeria Luiselli, and an operatic work written by Anna Deeny Morales.
