The purpose of this research is to expose the musical and dance qualities of Merecumbé, explaining its origins, its popularization, its impact on culture and politics, the significance of this is also evident, by declaring it heritage cultural and musical of the nation in 2009 and Soledad, population of the department of the Atlantic, highlighted it as a cultural treasure of the municipality in 2008
