Summary:This research seeks to broaden the understanding regarding the working dynamics that have to do with the leadership styles and the motivation at work, in order to identify whether there is a relationship between them. The study addresses these categories from the employee perception, with the aim of achieving a better understanding from the worker´s perspective, who is truly the one that interprets the working reality and gives it meaning. Consequently the research was performed using a qualitative reasearch approach supported by the focus group technique for data collection. It was possible to identify in the study, the existence of relations between the perception that employees have of their bosses leadership styles and their motivation at work, finding that there are behaviours that enable and favour the working motivation or that are detrimental to it, according to the perceived leadership styles.
