Description
Summary:The advancements achieved, with a group of older adult residents in a retirement house, depending on the public sector, are shown in this paper. Its residents do not have a health professional at their disposal in order to attend their mental health. Based on these records, a psychotherapeutic intervention program was carried out, in order to improve the emotional well being of a group of people in such an institution, by providing a greater importance to those aspects relating to depressive disorders, self-esteem and the work of contact. The results showed a statistically meaningful increase in the perception of their self-esteem and an equally meaningful decrease in the levels of depression. Likewise, it could be observed, mainly, a remarkable increase in their contact abilities, listening, expression and creativity contributing in part to the fact that these old people may move around with dignity and happiness during their last years of life.
