Summary:This article is made with the intention to identify present elements on the construction of aesthetic and symbolic sense of Afro-descendant’s hairstyles in the commune 8 in Medellin (Villa Liliam), this is given according to their cultural heritage gave them from generation to generation, where the important thing is to show their feeling, their ideas and their tastes through the hairstyles. At the time of preparation and choice which hairstyle the people wants, the hairdresser distributes the time depending on how much detail and materials the people chose. To achieve the execution of this article the investigation was raised in qualitative mode where the main tool were in-depth interviews, also during the process of this article it made to people pictures and interviews which will answer to the meaning of hairstyles for them and the cultural legacy that is being transmitted as part of their own identity and be able to maintain his legacy.
