We present a descriptive study of a group of men who participated in a program designed to treat men convicted of domestic violence crime. We analysed data from the following questionnaires: URICA, HADS, SCL-90-R, BDHI, IRI and IPD. The results show that the men in the study sample were mostly in the contemplation stage regarding their willingness to change. Concerning psychological characteristics, the results show low scores in depression, anxiety and hostility, with moderate scores regarding empathy towards the victim and the presence of distorted thinking. Finally, no statistically significant differences were found between the initial predisposition of the subjects to change and the other variables studied

Este estudio analiza algunas características psicológicas de los maltratadores y su predisposición al cambio. Para ello, se realiza un estudio descriptivo de un grupo de hombres que participaron en un programa dirigido a hombres condenados por un delito de violencia de género. Se analizan los datos obtenidos en los cuestionarios URICA, HADS, SCL-90-R, BDHI, IRI y IPD. Los resultados muestran que los hombres que componen la muestra se sitúan mayoritariamente en el estadio de contemplación, en relación con su predisposición al cambio. Respecto a sus características psicológicas presentan puntuaciones poco significativas en depresión, ansiedad y hostilidad y moderadas en relación con la empatía hacia la víctima y la presencia de pensamientos distorsionados.
