Summary: | Medellín has shown an important evolution in its development, in which, the city approach has been framed from a vision of transformation. The change of image, without a doubt, has been one of the main bets, by means of programs and projects directed to show a reformed city, where it’s evident a surpassing of problematic situations that permeated the social life of the territory in a past.Tourism has become a great potential for changing the city's image and has managed to project Medellín as an innovative, cultural, business and resilient city. It should be noted that, within the analysis carried out, it’s evident that tourists are currently looking for new experiences within their leisure activities, integrating these activities into the main attractionsand preferences when choosing a destination. That is why there is a boom in different tourist plans and destinations that involve emotions and experiences that manage to change perceptions and take people out of their comfort zone.Currently, to define these new forms of tourism, we talk about tourist typologies, which have developed over time and may be rare, but are gaining strength from people seeking to diversify their experiences. It’s in this way that dark tourism or “thanatoturism"; this arises, a typology that is characterized by offering activities related to death, tragedies, pain and historical places, marked by some of the previous events; at the same time, that a confluence can be presented within this tourist typology, which complements the experience and can generate processes of sensitization for the visitors who participate in these activities.So, this work focuseson arguing what it consists ofwhat elements or activities arerequired to practice it, and the same time, it seeks to find the relationship between how one lives and how one perceives dark tourism in the city of Medellin. The above, seen from the perspective of experts in tourism and different sectors, who have witnessed from the different institutions and organizations of the city, the transformation and the boom of this type of tourism in the different places marked by a past that is usually attractive to foreigners. |
