Summary: | In November 2016, the University of San Buenaventura Cartagena, represented by a group of students, made the academic route to the United States where the United Nations Organization and the Organization of American States are located in order to know the functioning of their structure and the importance of the influence of these organizations in the region, in addition to broadening and deepening the knowledge acquired from the academy so that contributions on international rights can be made. Given the above, the personal motivation of the author was generated by knowing and analyzing the processes in the application of the democratic charter as an instrument that safeguards democracy in the countries of the American organization, that is why the country was taken as reference of Honduras, specifically the case of the coup d'état in June 2009, since it has different origins and causes of the constitutional rupture compared to other countries, besides being the most recent case of the region. Therefore, this paper presents issues related to the causes, consequences and efficiency of the measures adopted by the OEA, to achieve the restoration of the democratic system in Honduras; all this in order to build an exhaustive analysis on the measures implemented by said organization for the referenced case. |
