Summary: | As enunciated by the International Organization for Migration/IOM, it is estimated that at present there are 214 million people living outside their country of origin. In this context, the so-called Indian diaspora has more than 20 million people, outside India. Strictly regarding diasporas, She&er (1986) remarks that the networks created by ethnic diasporas form part of a three-way relationship that includes the diaspora itself, its country of origin and of residence, pointing also that this relationship becomes an integral and permanent aspect of the *ow of national and international politics. Considering the above mentioned, the present work approaches the academic literature produced on the aforementioned three-way relationship and its components, within the framework of the study of migration in the international +eld, since 2000. Contributions and topics worth further research are reviewed. It concludes with the proposal of an interdisciplinary approach of the phenomenon. |
