The age of the mothers ranged between 21 and 51 years (M = 37.02). For data collection, six type instruments were applied, and the statistical program SPSS version 21 was used for descriptive, comparison, correlations, and logistic regression analyses. The predictor variables of excess weight for schoolchildren with a positive relationship were motivation to lose weight, concern about weight and normative discomfort; while for the variable’s covert restriction, conditioned feeding, pathological discomfort and social pressure, a negative relationship was found. Excess weight is predicted by concern about their children's weight and mothers tend to use coercive practices, therefore, their children feel greater social pressure and greater motivation to lose weight. Monitoring continues to be a practice associated with normal weight.application/pdf10.21500/19002386.67862665-42021900-2386https://hdl.handle.net/10819/29346https://doi.org/10.21500/19002386.6786spaUniversidad San Buenaventura - USB (Colombia)https://revistas.usb.edu.co/index.php/Psychologia/article/download/6786/55864012719PsychologiaBerge, J.
