El artículo sitúa algunos referentes que permiten comprender las transformaciones de la educación superior en las últimas décadas, asuntos que configuran una educación terciaria otra . Los temas desarrollados se organizan en cuatro categorías que muestran múltiples visos de la educación superior en América Latina y que referencian la caracterización de directivos, docentes y estudiantes, uno de los objetivos centrales del estudio.
