Description
Summary:OBJECTIVE: To characterize the role of the speech, language pathologist in the approach to communicative cognitive disorder in the elderly population of the city of Cartagena. METHODOLOGY: This study is transversal descriptive observational type. A nonprobabilistic sampling was carried out, the sample consisted of 30 speech, language pathologist, to whom the instrument designed by the researchers was applied, an analysis with descriptive statistics was made, using measures of frequency distribution in EPI INFO 7. RESULTS: 46% of the population answered correctly about knowledge about cognition and communication, 16% do not have clarity regarding the skills they must possess to intervene in Cognitive Communicative Disorders, 40% of the population responded in an erroneous way, which makes it possible to show that there is no clarity regarding the most adequate tests to perform the evaluation of the user with CCD. CONCLUSIONS: We can conclude that most of the polled Fonoaudiólogos lacks the knowledge for the evaluation of the TCC, since they bring to know the processes and necessary knowledge to approach the above mentioned population, nevertheless I demonstrate that a great proportion does not possess the clear knowledge that they allow him to approach of suitable form the population.
