Summary: | Blood is a liquid that is considered an irreplaceable resource, however, blood banks are those institutions responsible for its collection, storage and distribution; Through separation systems they manage to prepare different blood components such as packed red blood cells, platelets and fresh frozen plasma. Doctors use transfusions of blood components as therapeutic alternatives for many disorders, patients benefit from these medical practices improving their quality of life; However, some patients present adverse reactions to transfusion (RAT) that compromise stability, integrity and life. The occurrence of these events in many cases is related to factors inherent in the patient; other complications are related to problems of component quality. almente en los componentes plaquetarios por su temperatura de almacenamiento. PALABRAS CLAVES: Medicina transfusional, componentes sanguíneos, plaquetas. The contamination of the blood component is classified as an immediate nonimmunological reaction that causes bacterial sepsis and can cause serious complications that can lead to the death of the patient. OBJECTIVE: Deepen in the review of the literature on the sources of bacterial contamination and highlight the strategies for the identification of this; in the platelet component. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature search was performed in databases such as Scielo, Scient Direct, Google academic, PubMed and documentation of the World Health Organization (WHO), key words were used: blood component, platelet tranfusion, blood transfusion, bacterial contamination of blood components, bacterial sepsis... |
