| Summary: | This document focuses its refl ection on the contextualization of higher education in our current world, the study of its defi cit and its contradictions, as well as its inadequacies to respond to the social, economic, cultural and political realities of the region. In response to this panorama, the survival of the regional university is visualized as starting from an network with other institutions of higher education using a model of association that allows the exchange of experiences, the construction of cooperative investigation projects, the confi guration of a qualifi ed voice that is able to dialogue with the governmental authorities of education, the construction of a regional autonomy that enables the making of decisions related to higher education and supports the plans of institutional transformation of the universities. |
