Description
Summary:Within the framework of this work, the objective is to identify the risk factors for normal and pathological cognitive impairment in the elderly from a documentary review of the research carried out between 2008 and 2018, addressing the different subtype of dementia and degrees of severity based on an information search in the following databases Ebsco, Dialnet, Redalyc, Scielo and Google Académico; in order to understand why in some cases cognitive deterioration occurs more rapidly, affecting different areas of the brain thus causing various alterations such as: motor impairment, loss of attention, learning difficulties, planning, task execution, problem solving, language and memory. However, the review identifies that although strategies for diagnosis and intervention have been generated, these are still insufficient, so it is necessary to strengthen the research processes in these pathologies that allow improving clinical care and contribute to better rehabilitation of the patient
