Inicialmente, se hace un breve recorrido por la historia del internet considerado un escenario de interacciones que integra visiones positivas y negativas para la sociedad. Luego, se introducen los conceptos de sociedad red y comunidad virtual haciendo énfasis en la forma como interactúan los internautas. Seguidamente, se hace un acercamiento al ambiente de las redes sociales, concentrándose en las redes sociales de amigos y la presencia de los escolares en este escenario donde pueden generase relaciones tanto de amistad como de agresión. Posteriormente, se presentan las redes sociales en el escenario escolar y el concepto de matoneo virtual como problemática presente allí. Finalmente, se exponen las conclusiones a manera de reflexión acerca de este tipo de violencia escolar y el papel que desempeña la escuela frente al diagnóstico, evaluación y creación de estrategias de prevención para este tipo de violencia entre pares.This article contextualizes the problem of cyberbullying in the school environment. Firstly, it shows a brief overview of the history of internet considered as an interactive environment integrating positive and negative visions for society. Then, concepts such as network society and virtual community are introduced, making an emphasis on the way users interact. After that, it approaches the social networks, focusing on the social networks of friends and the presence of students in this environment where both friendship and aggression interactions can appear. Subsequently, the social networks are shown in the school environment and the cyberbullying definition as a part of it.
