Public health data from SIH/DATASUS were analyzed. The incidence rate of TSCI in Pernambuco, Brazil, has remained relatively stable over the past decade, with an average annual incidence rate of 15.5 cases per million people. The geographic distribution of TSCI cases in Pernambuco is heterogeneous, with the highest incidence rates observed in the metropolitan region of Recife and in the northeastern region of the state. Age-dependent analysis shows an average age of 43.7, 35.7, 34.9, and 41.8 years for non-specific (T09), cervical (S14), thoracic (S24), and sacral (S34) SCIs, respectively. Further research is needed to identify specific risk factors for TSCI in different age groups and to develop effective interventions for prevention and improving outcomes. The primary non-specialized health service in Brazil is associated with higher mortality in TSCI cases. This study provides valuable information on the incidence, geographic distribution, and age distribution of TSCI in Pernambuco, contributing to understanding the healthcare landscape in the region.application/pdf10.21500/20275846.78902027-5846https://hdl.handle.net/10819/29050https://doi.org/10.21500/20275846.7890engUniversidad San Buenaventura - USB (Colombia)https://revistas.usb.edu.co/index.php/IngUSBmed/article/download/7890/5663Núm. 1 , Año 2025 : Ingenierías USBMed2612116Ingenierías USBMedAhuja, C.S., Wilson, J.R., Nori, S., Kotter, M.R.N., Druschel, C., Curt, A., Fehlings, M.G.: Traumatic spinal cord injury.
