| Summary: | Altos de Monserrate neighborhood is an irregular settlement located in the city of Armenia, Quindío. It is the consequence of the need for housing by different sectors of society, especially the most vulnerable (displaced by violence, Venezuelan migrants and low-income people), they got there by appropriating vacant lots and building their homes empirically. Due to its conditions, this settlement lacks an infrastructure that meets basic collective and individual needs. Likewise, several houses represent a danger due to the way they were built. This project aims to create a new face to the neighborhood through small collective interventions and a mid-rise housing intervention that responds to the uncontrolled growth of the neighborhood by recognizing the diverse cultural identities and their way of living. |
