Summary: | Only by studying our cities and their architecture we will be able to make them better. Our geography has differentiated them from other cities in Latin America, but they are similar to others that we ignore due to our cultural dependence. It is on the story of their initial diversification, subsequent amendment, and chaotic present on which to act. Their past was part of the landscape, and their aesthetics emerged from a few functions and techniques. Afterwards, new and classical elements were added, as well as lots of materials and professional architects. Their criticized present is a display of innovative but senseless shapes that are outside the historic centers but are anyhow publicized by magazines. Their future depends on contextual and sustainable solutions, maintaining what has been already built both with a new canon and with fewer but better architects. |
