Description
Summary:The present work compiles information on the running over of wild fauna in the protected area of the Envigado municipality, which is made up of four core areas, where these conservation areas are fragmented by three main routes: “las palmas” “variante de palmas” and the “escobero”, emphasizing these routes as a source of negative impacts on wildlife, registering a total of 43 run-ins in 47 routes carried out in 2018. The road where the collision between vehicles and wildlife, was most evident, it was the “variante de palmas” with a ran-over rate of 0.051 ind / (km * day), in addition, mammals were the ones that registered the most cases, with 55.81% of the total accidents for the three reflected taxonomic classes. Subsequently, the possible relationship that arises between the different socio-environmental dynamics that are in the study area and the run-over rate is analyzed, establishing flaws in the Land Management Plan that possibly influences the number of species run over and a decrease in the quality of the vegetation of the protected area. From what has been observed, it is determined what is of great importance to carry out a series of measures that can reduce the damage of the roads to wildlife, in this case, the optimization of hydraulic works such as wildlife passages in the route with the highest run-over rate presented.
