This research aims to describe the characteristics of violent behavior in institutionalized persons with mental illness through the application of the risk scale violence Plutchik patients institutionalized in a mental health unit in Cartagena, therefore this study is quantitative approach, descriptive, not experimentally cross design with a non-probabilistic sample. The results of this research demonstrate violent behavior allow these people , 75% of the evaluated individuals at risk for violent behavior and 25 % have no risk, such behaviors are characterized by striking a person who is not familiar with assaulting objects , easily get angry and attack in a fight

La presente investigación tiene por objetivo describir las características de las conductas violentas en personas institucionalizadas con enfermedad mental a través de la aplicación de la escala de riesgo de violencia de Plutchik a pacientes hospitalizados en una unidad de salud mental en Cartagena, por lo tanto este estudio es de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo descriptivo, diseño no experimental transversal, con una muestra no probabilística.
