| Summary: | This article is based on the consideration of some preliminary questions of the study of mental health within traditional communities. For this, the starting point is the difficulty that becomes manifest when analyzing the categories that are not characteristic of a context of cultural reference, as in the case of mental health. When entering into a deeper study of cultures based on complex visions that explain illnesses from an integral point of view of the subject and the universe, the reference to medical anthropology and ethnographic methodology is unavoidable. The article also considers the current situation in which some traditional communities are found, and some new social problems that can result in issues for investigation. |
