Summary: | The main purpose of the hospital building is to house the activities related to disease, rehabilitation and health. It becomes the habitat for people who suffer from any clinical condition during a certain period of time, whether they are in an outpatient treatment, diagnosis patients or people who need to be treated or hospitalized in order to prolong life and well-being thanks to specialized attention, aiming at eliminating or treating diseases. For so doing, it is necessary that the level of detail of such buildings to be designed in a way that allows to satisfy not only the merely functional necessities in the configurations of its spaces, but also the psychological needs of the patients who perceive reality under the adverse effects of a disease. The hospital’s physical environment should tend to protect the human dignity and personal sensitivity of the patients and their families, to reduce uncertainty and anxiety emotions, especially when the former experience difficult moments such as surgeries, emergency situations, chemotherapies, or even death. The present document intends to collect the necessary information, as well as to take the relevant design criteria in order to lay out, in a project phase, a hospital equipped with a medical specialty in neurology in the city of Medellín. In this sense, it also intends to allow an approach, from its own development, to the influence of the clinical environment in patients with neurodegenerative diseases, so as to come to an architectonic solution that contributes to the improvement in treatments for the patients |
