Summary:This article is a sample of the Reading practices in elementary school and how they can be conceived from the sociocultural perspective. This idea arises because of the pedagogical practices developed in different educational institutions, finding that the lack of motivation and interest is due to the traditional methods that the teacher used for teaching and the ap-proach to the Reading process, in the same way, it is known that Reading is only an academic act that transcends outside the institution because parents do not have the time to share with their children, and children do not have the autonomy to have good reading habits.-- Grupo de Investigación en Estudios Interdisciplinarios sobre Educación (ESINED).-- Línea de Investigación: pedagogía, lenguaje y comunicación
