Summary: | Introduction: the EPOC is a progressive and potentially fatal lung disease that can cause, in the first instance, dyspnea associated with exertion and which predisposes to suffer exacerbations and serious diseases. Its main cause is smoking and currently many people suffer from it. Exacerbations of COPD can cause admission to the intensive care unit, where appropriate and integral management should be used from physiotherapy which includes mainly respiratory therapy, where the use of mechanical ventilation may be necessary, and early mobilizations, in order to preserve the respiratory function and physical abilities of the person to develop their life and their various roles. It is necessary to mention the theoretical bases that support and describe the physiotherapist's actions from the different dimensions. We present the clinical case of a 72-year-old man who enters the intensive care unit, describes the approach he received from physiotherapy every day, and presents it afterwards re-evaluation after the intervention. Objective: To know the management of COPD patients in exacerbation phase in uci Methodology: Clinical case study that deals with all the aspects related to an individual with a diagnosis of COPD who enters the intensive care unit due to pneumonia complication. |
