Summary:This article aims to describe the experiences of nursing professionals in their work performance. For this purpose, a study with a qualitative, phenomenological and interpretive approach was proposed. This addressed the reality built by individuals in their socio-work environment, therefore, the truth emerges from the various meanings that people give to the situations they experience. The sample was intentional, it was applied to nurses graduated from different academic programs, the collection method was a virtual interview, prior completion and signing of informed consent. From the data analysis, the following categories emerge: social recognition of the profession, dedication of time, attribute of the profession, employment condition, ethics of care, knowledge of discipline, meaning of training, job expectations, fear of the unknown, professional status, scope of performance and motivation and commitment. This research took into account the ethical considerations for health research. In conclusion, the study participants feel satisfied with their profession, despite the adverse conditions and the pandemic situation that the world is going through, they consider being a fundamental part and contributing their knowledge and skills to transform society.
