Summary:The prescription of the exercise of force can be used with people of any age or any other situation, with simple elements within their reach. Exercises with elastic bands and self-loading exercises. This investigation determined the increase of strength in sedentary older adults, with exercises of elastic bands (thera-band) and self-loading exercises. The study was applied for 8 weeks in 25 elderly women with a height of 1.48 to 1.65. The training consisted of three weekly strength sessions with elastic bands and self-loading exercises on the lower limbs (muscles: quadriceps, hamstrings and leg muscles) and upper limbs (muscles: biceps, triceps, pectorals, trapezius, dorsal). Before this procedure, an initial test was carried out, Senior Fitness test, predetermined for each one of the muscles that intervene. The data were compared with the same test and with similar studies, at the end of the 8-week investigation.
