El Cable, objetivo principal de esta investigación, influenciado por universidades contiene dinámicas estudiantiles marcadas, y su economía se desarrolla a partir de estas dinámicas educativas. Sin embargo, sus límites han sido muy notables porque no existe permeabilidad con otros sectores del nodo El Cable. El Parque Central Universitario, área de interés ambiental, se muestra en desconexión total del contexto urbano del Cable y por consiguiente del eje transversal de Manizales. Este borde ambiental debe permearse de las actividades propuestas desde El Cable, dinámicas del habitar que fortalezcan la relación entre la población de adultos mayores y estudiantes, entendidas desde la vivienda, el comercio, el espacio público y el desarrollo de lugares para la expresión cultural. El objetivo principal es generar estrategias que permitan establecer un sistema de usos que den como respuesta un nuevo modo de habitar el lugar desde la conectividad con los nodos urbanos, y que a su vez den respuesta a las necesidades de la población universitaria y adulto mayor en Manizales, Caldas. Los métodos utilizados para la investigación tomaron como base documentos teóricos de autores como Kevin Lynch y Michel De Certau, que conceptualizan el espacio urbano y sientan bases para la revisión de cartografías urbanas frente a dinámicas sociales, culturales, comerciales y ambientales. Las conclusiones obtenidas plantean que para lograr la identificación del Parque Central Universitario como nodo debe consolidarse con usos que activen el lugar, como la vivienda, espacios culturales, ambientales y deportivos. Abstract: This is the summary in English. El Cable, the main objective of this research, influenced by universities, contains marked student dynamics, and its economy is developed from these educational dynamics. However, its limits have been very noticeable because there is no permeability with other sectors of the El Cable node. The Central University Park, an area of environmental interest, is totally disconnected from the urban context of the Cable and therefore from the transversal axis of Manizales. This environmental edge should be permeated by the activities proposed from El Cable, dynamics of living that strengthen the relationship between the elderly and students, understood from housing, commerce, public space and the development of places for cultural expression. The main objective is to generate strategies that allow the establishment of a system of uses that give as a response a new way of inhabiting the place from the connectivity with the urban nodes, and that in turn respond to the needs of the university and senior population in Manizales, Caldas. The methods used for the research were based on theoretical documents of authors such as Kevin Lynch and Michel De Certau, who conceptualize urban space and lay the foundations for the review of urban cartographies in relation to social, cultural, commercial and environmental dynamics. The conclusions obtained suggest that in order to achieve the identification of the Central University Park as a node, it should be consolidated with uses that activate the place, such as housing, cultural, environmental and sports spaces.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
