To understand the history of the coffee-producing region, the research has been focus on the Antioquian Colonization as a factor of unity, although all its theoretical and conceptual structure must be reviewed and enriched. In the work it is proposed how regional history must strive to define its object of study from different approaches; beyond as being an absolute is, as it has been tried to show, a mechanism to represent the pastEn el artículo se propone una reflexión sobre la valoración de la historiografíaregional, que debe partir incluso de una revisión del concepto básico de región,comprender y dilucidar la forma como los historiadores han comprendido laregión, en particular la región del eje cafetero.
