And the surprise is increased when takinginto account its speed: Latin America is aging at a rate four times faster by characterizing theaging of the so-called first world countries.Therefore the issue of aging must be taken up immediately, not only by health professionals,also by professionals from different areas related to the design of those spaces that becomethe temporary home, and in most cases, the habitat they share even death.A pesar del considerarse como una característica determinante del siglo XXI, el envejecimiento demográfico es un proceso que desafortunadamente nos está tomando por sorpresa. Y la sorpresa se acrecienta si se tiene en cuenta su rapidez: América Latina está envejeciendo a un ritmo cuatro veces más rápido al que caracterizó el envejecimiento de los países del llamado primer mundo.
