The aim of this paper is to review studies that account for the transformation of the country's coffee reality after the breaking of the CoffeePact, highlighting the most important aspects considered by the coffee institutions for addressing politics which foster the economic sustainability and welfare of farmers.En Colombia, actualmente la actividad cafetera se concentra en pequeños productores cuyas extensiones de siembra son limitadas. Las investigaciones recientes sobre el sector se han interesado por profundizar en el conocimiento de particularidades tecnológicas y socioeconómicas que atañen a estos agricultores, tomando como referencia que se trata de unidades de economía campesina que determinan de manera conjunta sus decisiones de producción y de consumo.
