The references that were addressed to analyze the corresponding documentation, both on a theoretical texts of coffee and industrial design, and partly to technical progress, technological and industrial designs have been developed in the region to meet the needs of the productive activities arising from the coffee.El Grupo de Semillero de MedioAmbiente y Diseño de la Universidad Católica Popular del Risaralda, se encuentra adelantando en el último año una investigación alrededor de la Cultura Material Cafetera. Esta tiene como fin el estudio de las costumbres, actividades y objetos asociados a dicha cultura, para lo cual se partió de la construcción del Estado del Arte.
