The use of bamboo is widespread in the Colombian coffee region and has become not only a valuable economic resource but also a key element in the definition of the cultural identity of the region. The article assesses bamboo from the perspective of industrial design and highlights its value as an important component of industrial processes based on the notion of sustainable development.El siguiente artículo presenta algunos de los resultados obtenidos en la investigación denominada "Caracterización de las Adaptaciones Tecnológicas en los Procesos de Industrialización de la Guadua", dentro de la línea de Investigación en Tecnologías del grupo de Investigación Tecnología y Diseño, adscrito al programa de Diseño Industrial de la Universidad Católica Popular del Risaralda.
