The present article is focused on the evaluation of health system and the hospitalemergency units. These, represent an important moment and decision ofcrucial incidence in life of the people demanding imperative medical assistance(emergencies). It concludes that in Colombia, support needed is available frominstitutions to give better operability conditions in the different instances.Existe un creciente interés por evaluar la percepción de la calidad de los servicios médicos, por parte de los pacientes y de las entidades prestadoras, tanto públicas como privadas, en el contexto internacional. En Colombia, mediante la Ley 100 de 1993 se organizó el funcionamiento del sistema general de seguridad social en salud. Este artículo está centrado en la evaluación del sistema de salud y en las unidades de urgencias hospitalarias; las cuales representan un momento y una decisión de vital incidencia en la vida de las personas que demandan asistencia médica perentoria (emergencia / urgencia).
